No More Waiting: You Are The Special Occasion

Confession time: How many of us have a “had-to-have-it” stash? You know, that dress, that wig, that pair of heels sitting in your closet with the tags still on, waiting for a “special occasion”? (Don’t worry, I’m side-eyeing myself too.)

I’m there...right now...lol. We sacrifice, we hustle, we work long hours to create and maintain a certain lifestyle. Then we sometimes impulse-buy something fabulous and…let it sit. For months. Maybe years. The truth is, we’re already living in the special occasion. Life is happening now, not later.

I had to remind myself of this when my Luxxe Curl bundles sat in a container for months. I finally had them made into a U-part wig, and when I wore it, I felt like I had stepped into my own “soft life” moment: polished, effortless, and grateful. I felt so beautiful!! Next thing I did was over the weekend, at my girlfriend’s event, I reached for a shirt I hadn’t worn all season and a pair of heeled sandals that had been neglected for over a year. The compliments, the confidence, the energy? Chef’s kiss.

The mindset shift happened for me a couple of years ago during a seasonal purge. I filled five 30-gallon garbage bags with clothes and accessories I “just had to have". Seeing it all at once was a reality check. I stopped and prayed right there: “Lord, help me be a good steward of what You’ve already blessed me with". I still enjoy nice things, and reward myself, but I’m intentional. I wear the wig. I rock the shoes. I use the candle. No more saving for “someday". Me being me is the "someday".

If you’re reading this, consider it your gentle (and slightly sassy) nudge: Go look in your closet, pantry, or makeup drawer. What’s sitting there that you just had to have? Pull it out. Use it. Wear it. God already gave it to you so enjoy it.

Affirmations for Self-Love, Stewardship & Worth

Say them out loud, smile at yourself, and let them sink in:

  • I honor God’s blessings by being a wise steward of what I have.

  • I am worthy of feeling beautiful and confident today...not someday.

  • My style reflects gratitude, self-love, and self-worth.

  • I release guilt about the past and choose to enjoy what I already own.

  • Life itself is my special occasion; I choose to show up for it.

Reflection: No More Waiting for a Special Occasion: You Are the Occasion

Now that we are all changing our mindset to "No More Waiting for a Special Occasion: You Are the Occasion"...What’s one thing you’ve been saving for “someday” that you can wear, use, or enjoy this week? Share it in the comments or write it in your journal as a reminder.

Closing Prayer

Father, Thank You for the abundance already in my hands. Thank You for teaching me to be mindful, grateful, and wise with every blessing You give. Help me release the habit of saving everything for “later” and instead walk in appreciation and confidence today. May my self-love and stewardship honor You and open the door for even more overflow. Amen.

I'll be back in two weeks, in the meantime, lets chat in the comments. I would love to read about the ways you are going to use or repurpose the items you haven't pulled out in awhile:)
